(BEIJING, November 22) -- Taking advantage of the preparations for the Olympic Games, the Beijing municipal government has taken a series of measures to help the unemployed people find new jobs.
They now work as assistant road traffic administrators, employees of hotels and sports stadiums or factory workers.
Since 2002, the city has unveiled 11 approaches including the small-loan scheme, social security subsidy and employment aid. Subsequently, 890,000 jobless have been re-employed, in addition to 290,000 disabled persons and low-income residents who also have found a job.
In Beijing, the number of jobless families has been reduced to zero as of September this year.
Meanwhile, the income level of the employed has been rising with an average of 40,117 yuan per capita in 2006, up 109.4 percent from 20,962 yuan in 2001.
